Clash Royale Phoenix and Monk Nerfs likely coming soon

It looks like both Phoenix and Monk are going to be receiving some well-deserved nerfs heading into the December 2022 season of Clash Royale.

While adding new cards is usually an exciting time for most card games, it can sometimes wreak a lot of havoc on the meta. This was the case with the addition of Phoenix and Monk to Clash Royale. They took the game by storm and have taken over the ladder. Players have been hoping for nerfs to take both cards down a peg, and it looks like they will get their wish soon enough.

The proposed nerfs for Phoenix are -13% HP and that Phoenix and its Egg can be killed by Lightning. This will make it a lot easier to be killed and now that Lightning will be able to kill it, you shouldn’t struggle so much to deal with the main body and its egg that is left behind. This will hopefully tone down the amount of decks running the card, which has been pretty excessive.

Monk on the other hand is getting an increase in cost. Instead of 4 Elixir, it will cost 5 Elixir to play. While this doesn’t sound like a lot, it’s a pretty significant cost increase and will slow down the card tremendously. While the card will likely still see play, it shouldn’t be as problematic as it was before.

Here’s a look at all of the details behind the upcoming balance changes courtesy of RoyaleAPI. Keep in mind that these are a work-in-progress, which means its possible they get changed a bit before they reach the actual game.
