Clash Royale’s developers have announced that the upgrade to Level 15 will not cost any gold. This shift comes as a response to player feedback, acknowledging the difficulty faced by many in maxing their deck due to escalating gold costs at Level 14. These details were revealed in a video and blog post from the developers of the game.

Transitioning to Level 15 will now involve Elite Wild Cards instead of gold. In this new system, when a card reaches Level 14, any additional cards of that type are converted into Elite Wild Cards. These can then be applied to any Level 14 card, thereby contributing towards the progress of achieving Elite level, the game’s new term for the maximum level.

With this update, the developers also plan to remove the gold ‘overflow’ from maxed cards, a feature that provided players with extra gold when they received duplicates of a card. However, to counterbalance this change, Clash Royale will see a significant increase in the amount of gold available within the game, over three times the amount prior to the update.

To prepare players for these Elite levels, Clash Royale will be holding a Slash Royale event, where all card gold upgrade costs will be slashed by 50%. The event is scheduled to run from June 5th to June 18th.

The developers have made it clear that achieving Elite levels will be challenging, as these levels represent the pinnacle of gameplay. As such, only a small percentage of players are expected to reach this level, reinforcing the ‘Elite’ status. Consequently, the game’s Path of Legends will continue to cap at Level 14 for approximately six months after the introduction of the Elite levels.

Despite this, Elite levels can be used immediately in Clan Wars and on the Trophy Road, expanding the strategic possibilities of gameplay.

Also, it’s worth noting that the upcoming Card Evolution feature will not be tied to Elite Levels. Players won’t need to reach Elite levels to access this new feature, ensuring it’s accessible to a broad range of players.
