Clive ‘N’ Wrench, a throwback to early 3D platforming adventure games from developer Dinosaur Bytes Studio, has just revealed a surprisingly extensive gameplay preview that’s nearly ten minutes long. The preview elaborates on Clive ‘N’ Wrench’s various features, including special moves, environments, and characters.

A separate “Year of the Rabbit” trailer released alongside the preview, revealing the game is scheduled to launch on February 24th, 2023. It will be available on PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5. You can watch the full gameplay preview on publisher Numskull Games’ official YouTube channel here:

The new gameplay preview for Clive ‘N’ Wrench shows off some nostalgic and outstanding features. It honestly seems like a lost game from the late 90’s, without relying on that alone, clearly building its own style and lore. This should definitely please longtime fans of the greats, like Ratchet & Clank, Banjo-Kazooie, Spyro and so forth.

There were countless 3D platformers that felt just a bit clunky and featured anthropomorphic animals. They also had iconic worlds with charming little NPCs and collectibles. Clive ‘N’ Wrench may have seemed like a gimmick to some, but today’s gameplay preview should ease those concerns.

There are some modern ideas that clean up what didn’t always work in some older games, and its variety of environments is ambitious. It has a fine sense of humor, and some fairly creative characters.

The physical editions are teased at the end of the gameplay preview, and they do have some fun incentives. The special moves booklet is a nice touch, and the Collector’s Edition includes a full-on manual. These alone are worth the price tag, and definitely help the physical release stand out from all the other art cards and soundtracks. Also, that “full color” tagline is a clever joke.
