Top-tier eSports team Cloud9 officially has a new CMO, and it’s none other than Tricia Sugita, also known as @megumixbear. Cloud9 proudly released a welcome video today featuring an interview with Tricia, which lasts almost three minutes.
You can watch the full video here, from Cloud9’s official Twitter feed:
Tricia reminds the fanbase that she has a long and successful history wearing many hats in eSports, including broadcasting, streaming, sales, and even running a team. Her career began with StarCraft II, but she quickly became known as an effective host for eSports events.
Just a couple of days ago, Tricia stepped down as CEO of FlyQuest, a team founded in 2017, and led them well with the slogan “showcase greatness”.
She explains her decision to leave FlyQuest in a recent tweet, which also concludes with a short montage of some of Tricia’s memorable moments with the team:
In Cloud9’s welcome video, Jack Etienne reveals that he met Tricia in IPL4, a League of Legends event. Tricia goes on to explain her responsibilities and fans with Cloud9, mainly involving brand management.
This could affect the team’s designs and marketing campaigns. So, fans should keep an eye out for plenty of new merchandise, which could drastically change to fit Tricia’s personal vision for the team.
Also, fans should expect some of the titles to change, which is probably going to be the most noticeable difference. It might seem frightening, since losing certain titles could be very disappointing.
But it’s also the most thrilling news, since it’ll be interesting to speculate about their potential in new areas too. For now, Cloud9 continues to prove fairly successful in their current environment.
In fact, just days ago, Cloud9 posted a lengthy video about how they defeated Faze in a Counter Strike tournament:
While the change might be strange at first, it might work out for the best, given that Tricia’s proven her abilities to create large goals and successfully reach them.
