The developer behind the hit top-down survival horror title Darkwood, Acid Wizard Studio, has announced that it will be dissolving in the near future, with one more update scheduled. The developer has also announced that it will cease development on Soccer Kids, a turn-based strategy game about leading a “team of nerds” to victory.

Acid Wizard made the announcement in a tweet thread, stating that the reason the company has decided to dissolve is an inability to find a “work environment that would not be destructive to our personal lives.” There are no more details given beyond that before the company shares what the plans are for its existing and in-development games, Darkwood and Soccer Kids.

While Acid Wizard states that it won’t be disappearing into thin air, it won’t be making any new games either, instead giving a possibility to return sometime within the next decade. Its hope is that its game can live on, as it is looking for either a developer or publisher who can take over the development of both of the titles after the next Darkwood update.

The thread claims that the developer has already been speaking to others about the potential to pass on the development, but is still looking. In the meantime, the developer encourages those who are eager to check out the beta testing of the next Darkwood update, with beta testing expected to resume sometime by the end of the month.

The replies to the thread were filled with support and love for Darkwood, with many fans anticipating the next update.
