While Marvel has been introducing a whole range of games, it doesn’t have anything compared to the hype that once surrounded DC Universe Online. After over a decade of being active, developer Rocksteady Studios has announced that DC Universe Online will be released on the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series consoles sometime during this holiday season.
The developer a blog post for the current-gen console announcements being featured on the DCU Online blog. While there are no promises, the developer is trying to increase the quality that players can expect on current-gen consoles. That being said, crossplay and cross-progression will carry over to the new versions of the game.

DC Universe Online was first released on PC in 2011, over a decade ago, and has seen near-constant development from the team in that time. It’s a great superhero simulator, allowing players to create a completely unique character in the title before embarking on a journey. The range of cosmetics and powers added to the game has been a big draw for many players.
With the promise of new quality-of-life improvements to DC Universe Online in the new version, it wouldn’t be too much to expect those same changes to come to the PC version as well. While the MMORPG likely doesn’t need it, this new version should help draw a whole new generation in to explore the DC Universe.
