Developer and publisher Dead Pixel Tales has just released an official Steam page for Stick to the Plan, an indie puzzle game about a dog carrying their perfect stick. There are dozens of puzzles, and although the game has been available on Itch.io, the Steam page is another step towards reaching wider audiences. Here’s the announcement from Dead Pixel Tales’ Twitter feed:
Stick to the Plan has a brilliant and adorable premise that will appeal to anyone, but especially those who love dogs. It should be a familiar sight, watching an ambitious dog carry around a stick that’s just too long, often getting caught on stair rails or the like. It’s just inherently cute.
Fortunately, Stick to the Plan’s art design is equally charming and friendly. The various environments are all pretty straightforward, but there’s a round and soft texture to them. Not to mention the narrative illustrations, which are simple but inspired. Roberto has lots of personality, and it’s nice having a purpose behind the adventure.
The puzzles themselves are very creative, and that is often the key to winning over fans of the genre. The puzzles need to feel unique, and the premise clearly offered some great inspiration. Even when the puzzles aren’t necessarily balanced, the overall tone is still relaxing and playful.
Surprisingly, the devs made this game as part of an Astra Games jam. Here’s the tweet from last December:
The Itch.io page teases a “full version”, which should certainly interest fans of casual indies and puzzle games. And if Stick to the Plan is something created for a small jam, it’ll be terrific to see how the devs expand into new titles.
