Publisher Shiro Unlimited has provided some exciting details about its upcoming story-rich adventure horror game, Decarnation.
Developed by Atelier QDB, Decarnation challenges players to solve cryptic puzzles, fight disturbing enemies, explore a phantasmagorical world of dreams and nightmares, and face terrifying monsters. It boasts an intensely emotional story unfolding in a sinister and elaborate environment.
Decarnation will be available on May 31st for PC via Steam and Nintendo Switch for $14.99 / €14.99 / £13.49. Shiro Unlimited has also shared today that Akira Yamaoka, the renowned composer behind the iconic Silent Hill series, has contributed 10 tracks to the Decarnation soundtrack, staying true to his signature style of haunting melodies and chilling atmosphere. Shiro Unlimited believes that Yamaoka’s music is the perfect complement to the game’s horror theme.
The Silent Hill aesthetic and mood have played a crucial role in shaping my creative work on Decarnation. Therefore, having the opportunity to receive assistance from the talented and generous master Yamaoka-san is a tremendous honour.
Decarnation incorporates elements of Japanese culture, which makes Yamaoka-san’s involvement all the more rewarding. His musical compositions are a blend of instrumental, mechanical, and organic sounds that are truly impressive. Alongside our primary composer, Corentin Brasart, we never tire of listening to Yamaoka-san’s creations. Even after nearly 25 years since the first Silent Hill game, Yamaoka-san continues to reign supreme as a creative mastermind.

Decarnation explores the contrast between battling limitations in the physical realm and the subconscious landscapes. It draws inspiration from the best adventure-horror and survival-horror games, as well as cult movies such as Satoshi Kon’s Perfect Blue and David Lynch’s Mulholland Drive. Decarnation is a promising title that combines all the significant elements of the psychological horror genre and presents them in a traditional 2D role-playing game style.
You may add Decarnation to your Steam wishlist now to be alerted when it becomes available. For those who want to check out some of the game’s features, a demo version is also available.
