Destiny 2 has just released a new tweet announcing that fans are going to be treated to an extensive look at Lightfall tomorrow, February 16th, 2023. A new ViDoc is going to premiere at 7 AM pacific time on Destiny 2’s official YouTube channel.
Destiny 2: Lightfall is currently scheduled to roll out on February 28th, 2023. Pre-purchasing the DLC will cost you about $50 USD, and double that to include the Annual Pass.
Today’s announcement on the game’s Twitter feed was accompanied by a brief teaser, showing some of the people that’ll be interviewed and a few cinematics:
Destiny 2 gets plenty of updates, but longtime fans can tell the difference when a notable amount of content and lore is about to be added. Lightfall is undoubtedly one of the most highly anticipated updates since The Witch Queen, which pretty much received unanimous praise for its narrative.
Some excellent storytelling has surely been Destiny 2’s strength since launch. Lightfall aims to be very conclusive, narratively speaking, so hopefully it can deliver the chapter fans deserve after investing so much time in these campaigns. The devs themselves are raising expectations, implying Lightfall could be a pivotal moment.
There have been a variety of ViDocs over the years, so it’s a longtime tradition. While earlier ViDocs were only a few minutes long, recent tradition implies that tomorrow’s ViDoc will probably be around fifteen minutes. ViDocs tend to elaborate on a variety of details, including key story points, motivations, and gameplay mechanics.
Today’s trailer includes a brief moment suggesting that something juicy will be revealed. Something like that would ordinarily feel like simple clickbait. But the “world premiere” angle and “in-depth look” comment hints that tomorrow’s ViDoc could genuinely reveal worthwhile information.
