Shortly after releasing The Witch Queen, Destiny 2 has announced that Guardian Games will be available again between May 3rd and May 24th.
Here’s the official tweet, celebrating the ultimate competition of classes:
While arguing over classes is a fun tradition in classic RPGs, Destiny 2 has taken the full-on Harry Potter route by awarding an honorary trophy for the victorious class.
The ceremony will finish off by placing the trophy in the Tower, the primary social hub of the game. Destiny 2 promises that the Guardian Games event will unfold with new modes, gear and cosmetics.
New Game Modes
There are two brand-new modes, including the PvE Competitive Strike Playlist and Free Roam. In Competitive Strike, players can choose between matchmaking or solo combat, aiming to earn Strike Medals and beat high scores. Before jumping in, fans can even try out the Training version first.
Free Roam will allow players to explore on their own, but even leisurely strolls will help you collect Laurels towards the Guardian Games. Just remember to deposit them in the Tower when you’re finished.
Rewards and Unlockable Items
The Guardian Games will also have exclusive items to pursue, like “The Title” sub-machine gun, which will have a powerful Origin Trait. But move quickly, because this SMG is disappearing after the event.
Players should expect new cosmetics and armor ornaments, and the top 10% of Guardians will earn a new emblem. But the biggest cosmetic update is probably all of the glowing.
There will be glowing ornament sets. Also, the armor for each class will automatically glow at different levels each week, depending on their standing. So, you won’t be able to hide if your class just isn’t doing enough, giving players an incentive to step up.
Any individual who has the highest score in the Tower will receive their own unique glow, as long as they can rule their position on the leaderboard.
It seems that Destiny 2 is determined to stoke serious competition, focusing on neat incentives that prove this game is still one of the most consistent RPGs on the market. Despite being FTP, Destiny 2 continues to pump out content at an impressive rate, so jump in now for the latest update.
