Bungie has revealed notable changes to the Warlock class abilities in Destiny 2 Season 21, addressing the underperformance of some Super options in high-level content. The primary focus is on the Stormcaller and Voidwalker subclasses, with additional quality-of-life fixes implemented throughout.

For the Voidwalker subclass, Bungie is increasing the PvE damage output of both Nova Bomb variants and Nova Warp, while also enabling Nova Warp to make targets Volatile. Nova Warp’s PvE damage is increased by 15%, and a fully charged attack now makes enemies Volatile on hit. Nova Bomb’s PvE damage is boosted by 20%.

The Stormcaller subclass is also receiving attention, as Bungie believes neither Stormtrance nor Chaos Reach are performing well in their intended roles. Both abilities will have their PvE damage output increased and will be granted access to the jolt keyword. Stormtrance’s PvE damage is increased by 25%, with damage ramp while attacking happening more quickly (over 3 seconds, down from 5), and Landfall detonation and seekers now jolt targets. Chaos Reach’s PvE damage is increased by 25%, and sustained damage on a single target now creates a jolting lightning strike at the target’s location. Additionally, its damage resistance against players is increased from 40% to 50%, and maximum strafe speed is boosted from 3.5m/s to 4.5m/s. The Super camera is also adjusted to avoid the player’s body obstructing the view of targets when strafing.

Winter’s Wrath, a crowd-control tool, is given a small PvE damage boost of 10% to increase its usability in situations like boss damage phases. Daybreak’s Super camera is adjusted to allow the player to look down further and avoid VFX blocking the view of targets when moving quickly.

Bungie is making several adjustments to base cooldown times and targeted improvements to pain points they have observed since Lightfall’s launch, as they continue to evaluate Strand’s performance in the live game. Changes are being made to Arcane Needle, Grapple, and Thread of Generation in the Warlock subclass.

Stasis tuning updates are also being implemented, revisiting previous changes made to Stasis subclasses and making updates where certain Stasis abilities or Aspects are lacking in the current landscape. The Warlock’s Frostpulse ability now provides 2 meters of additional melee lunge range after activation for 1.2 seconds.

Light subclasses are also receiving a general tuning pass, focusing on significantly overperforming or underperforming abilities. For Warlocks, changes are being made to Incinerator Snap, Ball Lightning, and a pair of Chaos Accelerant’s boosted grenades.

Season 21 sees adjustments to Lightning Surge, fixing a bug allowing it to effectively one-shot an enemy player in the Crucible if activated near a wall or other surface. This fix, along with other updates, aims to provide a more consistent experience for both attacker and target.
