Destroy All Humans! 2 – Reprobed, a remake of the classic sci-fi shooter from developer Black Forest Games and publisher THQ Nordic, will officially arrive on the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 on June 27th, 2023. It will only feature the Single Player mode.
Destroy All Humans! 2 – Reprobed originally launched on August 30th, 2022, and is currently available on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. You can watch today’s new announcement trailer on the THQ Nordic YouTube channel here:
Destroy All Humans! 2 was already a fan favorite game thanks to its unapologetic, juvenile humor and frenetic gameplay. The remake was also well received, and even included a special collector’s edition with some neat collectibles.
However, there were some technical issues causing unstable gameplay, so a port for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One feels like another chance to smooth out the game even more.
Besides, it always felt a little strange for the remake of such an old game to become exclusive for current gen consoles only. It’s pretty amusing that today’s trailer seems to acknowledge some actual requests and criticism from the fans.
It’s really unfortunate that despite including the Challenge Accepted and Skin Pack DLC, multiplayer won’t be supported. The trailer ends with a clear banner of caution tape reminding players that there will be “no multiplayer”. It’s clear the devs sense what kind of backlash could ensue.
A lot of the fun in Destroy All Humans! 2 can be found in teaming up with another player. The remake offered split-screen coop for the game’s full campaign, which thrives on the silliness and chaos that couch coop improves. There’s still no word on whether or not the multiplayer mode will be added later on.
