Diablo 2: Resurrected’s Patch 2.7, launching on May 2 at 10:00 a.m. PDT, is packed with feature adjustments, quality-of-life updates, and bug fixes. One of the most exciting changes is the addition of four extra character slots for all online modes, allowing players more freedom to experiment with different character builds.
Feature adjustments include the ability to reset stat and skill points at Akara for ladder characters used in non-ladder games, which encourages players to continue experimenting with their builds. To keep the community safe, an automated system has been added to chat lobbies to remove malicious messages.
Gameplay improvements are abundant in Patch 2.7, starting with changes to the Next Hit Delay system. This update simplifies the concept while maintaining its original design goals, addressing headaches in multiplayer and smoothing out specific character builds. Knockback has been removed from the Bul Kathos’ Sacred Charge 2-Handed Sword, increasing the viability of the weapon and weapon set as a whole.
For druid players, shapeshifting directly between Werewolf and Werebear forms is now possible, making it easier to take advantage of the Metamorphosis Rune Word bonuses. Assassins will also benefit from the patch, as their trap skills now gain from +% to Elemental Skill Damage modifiers. Developers have acknowledged a bug affecting lightning sentries on Nintendo Switch offline games and plan to address this issue in a future patch.
Several bug fixes target Mephisto’s drop rates, crashes caused by Assassins dying with active Martial Arts charges in offline play, and Assassin’s traps not benefiting from resistance reduction in offline play. General updates focus on fixing translation issues in multiple languages, abrupt lighting changes when progressing between towns and connected zones, and properly displaying the Terrorized monster icon in various languages. Audio cues for the Amazon’s dodging have been fixed, and various stability issues encountered during online play have been addressed.
Ladder play improvements include fixing messaging for the next ladder season, resolving issues with characters converted from ladder to non-ladder not displaying correctly, and preventing Rune Words exclusive to an upcoming ladder season from being created in the current season.
Platform-specific updates cover PC and console players. PC users will now receive a notification when running the game with old, extracted data. Console-specific fixes address issues with the Friends List display on Xbox consoles and the Recently Played With tab on Nintendo Switch. Localization issues with personalized items in Polish and Spanish have also been resolved.
Modding enhancements have been made, such as increasing the total limit of state entries and adding new columns to various files. Mod authors are advised to include the DataVersionBuild.txt file in their mods to reduce unexpected errors between game versions.
