The upcoming action role-playing game developed and published by Blizzard Entertainment, Diablo IV, has been announced to launch Early Access and Open Beta playtests.

The fourth main installment in the Diablo series was first announced in November 2019 at BlizzCon 2019. It is scheduled to be released on June 6th, 2023, for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S. An Open Beta playtest of Diablo IV will run from March 24th to 26th. Recently, Activision Blizzard revealed that a Beta Early Access of the game will be available from March 17th to March 19th. The playtest will cover Diablo IV’s Prologue and Act 1. The main gameplay concept that has been present throughout the Diablo series will continue to be a part of Diablo IV. This concept hinges on progressively obtaining stronger equipment through fighting opponents that get more challenging over the course of the game. Combat with enemies also makes use of a variety of character class skills, each of which may be tailored to the player’s playstyle through equipment and talent trees. Five playable classes, Barbarian, Sorceress, Druid, Rogue, and Necromancer, all of which have appeared in the series, will also be available in Diablo IV.

Although Diablo IV seems to maintain most of the key components from the series’ earlier games, this fourth installment also sought to depart from its predecessors. Diablo IV was revealed to have a more “grounded” story than the previous Diablo III. As such, the plot revolves around the simple folk of Sanctuary instead of “politics, kings, or another high-fantasy theme.” In addition, The world of Diablo IV is an open-world setting, enabling players to roam between various locations and dungeons without loading screens. Furthermore, players also have the freedom to complete each region in any order.

Diablo IV is available in Standard Edition, Digital Deluxe Edition, and Ultimate Edition. Those who pre-order the game will be given early access to the open beta on March 17th, regardless of the edition they purchased. Pre-orders of Diablo IV are now available on the official Blizzard Entertainment website.
