Diablo IV, the most recent entry into the Diablo franchise, has achieved a significant milestone as it garners the title of Blizzard Entertainment’s fastest-selling game of all time. This success is primarily due to the highest pre-launch unit sales ever recorded by Blizzard, across both console and PC platforms.

Since the early access launch on June 1, the game has already clocked up an astonishing 93 million hours of playtime in just four days. In other words, this would amount to over 10,000 years if played non-stop, equivalent to playing 24 hours a day from the dawn of human civilization.

In the words of Rod Fergusson, the general manager of Diablo, “This is a moment years in the making for the Diablo IV team. We’re extremely proud to offer players the richest story ever told in a Diablo game.” Diablo IV offers an array of choices to the players, from personal character customization to collecting Legendary loot tailored to their playstyle, all the while battling against horrific demons.

In the same breath, Fergusson also highlighted the tremendous support that Diablo IV has garnered since its announcement in 2019. “Since the game was first announced in 2019, the support from millions of players around the world drove us toward this release of our dark vision of Sanctuary. Hail Lilith, Blessed Mother,” he said.

Mike Ybarra, President of Blizzard Entertainment, praised Diablo IV, stating, “Our vision at Blizzard is to create legendary experiences for all to share, and Diablo IV is an incredible realization of that vision.” This masterfully crafted rendition of the Diablo universe, he said, exemplified the talent of their development teams and offered a welcoming platform to series veterans and newcomers alike. He added, “Whether you’re a veteran of the series or diving into Sanctuary for the first time, we welcome players to the global launch of Diablo IV.”
