Disney Speedstorm has just released a brand-new CGI cinematic trailer, focusing on action with Mickey Mouse, Sully, Mulan and (Captain) Jack Sparrow. The trailer may not include actual gameplay, but it does give fans a closer look at some of the moves, courses and styles. The game is now scheduled to launch in 2023, and will be available on the Nintendo Switch, Xbox, PlayStation, and PC.

Disney Speedstorm is really trying to win back hype, releasing a cinematic trailer so promptly after the game was delayed to next year just a couple of days ago. The devs have smartly reminded curious fans just how much they love the IP involved with today’s trailer.

It begins with shots of an arcade, calling Tron to mind, and given that Disney owns that property too, it’s almost certain to be included at some point. If not in the base game, at least in DLC later on.

The cinematic is pretty basic, so fans quickly responded with requests for other beloved characters. Wreck-It Ralph had a glorious kart racing world for its main plot point, so that would be a treat. It shouldn’t be long before Disney pulls out other big guns, much like Free Guy, and explores some of their bigger properties like Star Wars or Marvel.

For now, there is a much closer look at the finer details of each character that actually was featured in the trailer. This includes little nods like the Monster’s, Inc. logo on Sully’s wheels, or Sparrow using a sword for the gear shift. Disney Speedstorm’s art design doesn’t totally reflect the original look of any one character, but it’s acceptable enough to simply have access.

The official YouTube channel has already added showcases for the roles each character can play. Although today’s trailer partly showed off how each of these abilities could be used in-game, the basic intent was to capture the playfully competitive mood that fans can expect.
