Days before the upcoming Stockholm Major, Dota 2 has released its most anticipated patch yet – 7.31c. It includes fixes and updates to items, heroes, and neutral creep camps. 7.31c also added the Fantasy Dota feature in commemoration of the Stockholm Major. However, it wasn’t all fireworks and parties for these updates. Several nerfed items and heroes are on the list – along with a game-breaking bug that Valve was quick to resolve.
Underlord benefiting with 85% win rate
Numerous buffs and nerfs are on the long list of Dota 2’s 7.31c patch notes, including an adjustment for lifesteal and recipe costs. A number of hero buffs can also be highlighted, such as Crystal Maiden’s significant improvement on her Ultimate. A cheaper Vladimir’s Offering and a Spirit Vessel mean that these items can now be obtained earlier in the game. But what is more interesting is a buff to Underlord’s Firestorm, which initially stated that the burn damage of the skill would continue to tick until the affected unit dies. Dota 2 has since removed this from the official patch list, and a Valve employee on Reddit confirmed that they had fixed it at the time of this writing.

During the short period, Underlord’s win rate has skyrocketed to almost 86% at its peak, with its presence in every game at 87%. This just shows how game-breaking the added update for the hero was, whether it was an unintended bug or a definitive feature.
In preparation for Stockholm Major, all qualified teams are testing out this most recent patch. While there may be some adjustments needed to suit their playstyles, one thing is for sure: the Stockholm Major will definitely be one of the most unpredictable Majors ever.
