Dragon Ball Sparking Zero Reveals First 24 Fighters

Bandai Namco has revealed the first 24 characters in their roster, but it's not as it seems.

Bandai Namco revealed its initial roster for its upcoming 3D fighter, Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero. The first 24 characters, spanning Dragon Ball Z and Dragon Ball Super, are really just two with different transformations. I wouldn’t count these as more than two, but Bandai Namco seems to be trying to milk transformations.

Goku takes center stage, and his ki attack is his signature Kamehameha. As you’d guess, his iconic Super Saiyan transformations are featured in different parts of the timeline. From his early Z days to the power of Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan, players can experience Goku’s evolution firsthand. Vegeta, Goku’s longtime rival, is also a part of the roster. His attacks are the well-known Final Flash and Big Bang Attack, and he has his own Super Saiyan transformations, including the fan-loved Majin Vegeta form.

The announcement focuses on these two fighters as multiple iterations. Here is the full list from the website:

  1. Goku (Z – Early)
  2. Goku (Z – Mid)
  3. Goku (Z – Mid), Super Saiyan
  4. Goku (Z – End)
  5. Goku (Z – End), Super Saiyan
  6. Goku (Z – End), Super Saiyan 2
  7. Goku (Z – End), Super Saiyan 3
  8. Goku (Super)
  9. Goku (Z – Mid), Super Saiyan
  10. Goku (Super), Super Saiyan God
  11. Goku (Super), Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan
  12. Vegeta (Z – Scouter)
  13. Great Ape Vegeta
  14. Vegeta (Z – Early)
  15. Vegeta (Z – Early), Super Saiyan
  16. Super Vegeta
  17. Vegeta (Z – End)
  18. Vegeta (Z – End), Super Saiyan
  19. Vegeta (Z – End), Super Saiyan 2
  20. Majin Vegeta
  21. Vegeta (Great)
  22. Vegeta (Super), Super Saiyan
  23. Vegeta (Super), Super Saiyan God
  24. Vegeta (Super), Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan

It really feels kind of weird to see two characters with different forms called 24 by Bandai Namco. Hopefully, they are going to have a large roster of legitimately different characters. The variety is what made the Dragon Ball Z Budakai Tenkaichi series so fun. If they do 12 but with a bunch of forms, that’d be incredibly disappointing.
