SENSEs: Midnight is a 3D survival horror game developed by SUZAKU Games and published by Eastasiasoft Limited. It initially became available for PC via Steam in July 2022, and it is the first part of the anthology-style sequel to the 2.5D horror game inspired by Clock Tower and Fatal Frame, Sense: A Cyberpunk Ghost Story.
Recently, Eastasiasoft announced that SENSEs: Midnight is set to be released for Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch in June 2023. Additionally, a limited physical edition of the game will be made available for PS5 and Nintendo Switch. SENSEs: Midnight is inspired by earlier titles in the same genre, featuring tank controls and fixed camera angles. As the occult researcher, Uesugi Kaho, players will discover the secrets of the Ikebukuro walking park through environmental storytelling and lore. Players will also carefully manage their limited inventory slots to avoid backtracking, weigh risk and reward on puzzles that may alert vengeful spirits, and make use of hiding spots to temporarily elude pursuers. In addition, there is only one location in which players may safely save their progress in the game.
SENSEs: Midnight received mostly favorable reviews since its release on PC. It has been compared to classic Silent Hill and Fatal Frame. It is also considerably different from the original Sense game in that it utilizes a traditional tank control system and a fixed camera, all of which contribute to the SENSEs: Midnight‘s heightened difficulty and distinctiveness. The thrilling paranormal activity investigation experience is further enhanced by its eerie, atmospheric soundtracks as well as stylish 3D visuals.
