Elden Ring is as much about exploring the beautiful environment and taking in the world as it is about collecting loot and optimizing your character’s build. Finding the perfect weapon to go with your character’s stats is as important as increasing them in the first place. For those going for a strength focussed build in Elden Ring, here are the best weapons that make the most out of your strength stat.
The Best Weapons For Strength Builds In Elden Ring
Strength is one of the main attributes in Elden Ring and the one that most commonly affects the damage of a weapon. Almost every weapon in the game has strength scaling in its damage, even just as a secondary source. With but a few exceptions, the weapons that overwhelmingly make the best use of strength are the Colossal Swords.
Generally speaking, the weapons that make the best use of strength are the ones with the best direct scaling with the strength attribute. These weapons also generally have high strength costs in order to use.
I’ve gone ahead and ranked what I believe are the best weapons in Elden Ring for a strength build. Colossal Swords overwhelming take up spots in this list, but there are a few exceptions as you’ll see. These weapons generally follow the strength scaling rule above, but there are a few exceptions to this rule as well.
You may also find other weapons in the game that suit your build or playstyle better, even if they aren’t what I believe to be the statistically best weapons for a strength-focused build. The images used below are from the Fextralife Elden Ring Wiki.
Lordsworn’s Greatsword
Let me go out of my way to say this is definitely not one of the best strength weapons in the game. The reason I include this item on the list is because it can be obtained very early and is better than starting gear, making it a great beginning to your strength build.

The Lordsworn’s Greatsword is probably the first weapon you will find in-game. You’ll find it in a chest in the back of a carriage, located along the western road leading out of the Gatefront Ruins. It can be upgraded with the Ashes of War of your choice, but its’ innate skill Upward Cut is pretty good at finishing off low level mobs. It is also the only greatsword with an above average critical modifier (110,) making it a solid choice for critical strike builds as well.
Gargoyle’s Twinblade
Gargoyle’s Twinblade is sort of an outlier on this list. While not the best strength weapon in the game, the Gargoyle’s Twinblade allows strength users to venture into the Twinblade style of weapons for some diversity in their playstyle.

It is the only Twinblade with strength scaling, making it the black sheep of the Twinblade weapon style and a welcome addition to our list of strength weapons. The Twinblade moveset is great for proccing debuffs like bleed, and makes an excellent option for strength users who want a little bit of range to their attacks. It is dropped by the Vailant Gargoyle (Twinblade) when both bosses are defeated.
Greatsword
No list of the best strength weapons in Elden Ring could be complete without listing the Greatsword. This weapon, a tribute to the late author of the Berserk manga Kentaro Miura, is by far one of the most solid weapons in the game and a contender for best strength weapon.

At max level, this weapon has a strength scaling of B, making it one of the highest strength scaling weapons in the game. I recommend adding the Lion’s Claw Ash of War to this weapon, for no other reason than it is also a reference to Berserk. You’ll find this weapon in Caelid, Dragonbarrow, north-west to the Caelem Ruins Site of Grace, inside of the caravan.
Grafted Blade Greatsword
The Grafted Blade Greatsword is probably a reference to the Iron Throne in George RR Martin’s Game of Thrones. I wouldn’t know. What I do know is that this weapon includes some dexterity scaling and has a unique ability that sets it apart from other weapons on this list.

The Grafted Blade Greatsword’s ability increases all of your stats for 30 seconds. If that wasn’t enough, it also grants you extra poise, making it harder to interrupt your attacks with this slow weapon. You get this sword by defeating the Leonine Misbegotten boss in Castle Morne at the Weeping Peninsula.
Giant-Crusher
The Giant-Crusher is here because it just has the best damage of any strength weapons. With a B rating in strength at max level and high base damage, it just does what you want a strength weapon to do really well without any special tricks or complicated manuevers.

Get this weapon to +25 with the Heavy upgrade and get your strength to 60, and it 895 damage per swing. That’s a lot. You can find this weapon in a chest to the south of Outer Wall Phantom Tree site of grace.
That’s everything you need to know about the best strength weapons in Elden Ring. For more information on taking on this beautiful but deadly world, check out our other Elden Ring guides.
