Elden Ring Patch Notes 1.04 – Colossal Swords buff and Quest Phases added

Elden Ring is adjusting gameplay stability and balance in the upcoming patch v1.04, releasing April 19, 2022.

The new Elden Ring Patch Notes v1.04 update is releasing on April 19, 2022, and we’ve included the patch notes, which include what you can expect. This update will help to ensure gameplay stability and adjust the game’s balance. Adjustments are being made to some of the previous updates, updates to sorcery/incantation, weapon skills, and general bug fixes.

Major Changes Included in the Latest Update

Additional Elements Added

  • Added an option to turn the camera auto-rotate function ON/OFF
  • Added some event phases for the NPC “Patches.”

Balance adjustments

  • Attack speed of Colossal Swords/Colossal Weapons has been increased, and their recovery time has been reduced. There is no jump attack in this game.
  • Colossal Swords/Colossal Weapons’ two-handed attack damage has been increased. There is no jump attack in this game.
  • The Colossal Sword, Colossal Weapons, Great Sword, Great Hammer, Great Axe, Great Spear, and Halberd weapon classes now have a higher physical block rate and a guard boost.
  • Grafted Blade Greatsword’s damage has been increased.
  • Devourer’s Scepter’s damage has been increased.
  • The scaling of status effect build-up from Albinauric Staff and Dragon Communion Seal spells and incantations has been reduced.
  • Greatshield Talisman’s effect on weapons with a high block rate has been reduced.
  • The length of the madness-afflicted animation has been reduced.
  • Reduced the speed at which madness builds up and recovers.
  • At lower levels, the growth rate of FP and stamina was slightly increased*.

*Players will need to perform any of the following actions to reflect the changes. This is required only once. New characters created after this update will not require this action.

  • Activate Godrick’s Great Rune
  • Re-equipping any equipment (armor, talisman) which grants bonus stat to either Strength, Dexterity, Vigor, Endurance, Intelligence, Faith, or Arcane

Sorcery/Incantation

Upward adjustments

  • Crystal Barrage – Cast speed has been increased, and recovery time has been reduced.
  • Increased cast speed and reduced recovery time with the Gavel of Haima. Allows the caster to better withstand enemy attacks while casting.
  • Increased cast speed and reduced recovery time in Shatter Earth. Allows the caster to withstand enemy attacks more easily while casting.
  • Rock Blaster – Recovery time has been sped up. Allows the caster to withstand enemy attacks more easily while casting.
  • Thop’s Barrier – Increased the area of effect and lengthened the duration of the effect slightly.
  • Rennala’s Full Moon – Cast speed has been increased, and recovery time has been reduced.
  • Ranni’s Dark Moon – Cast speed has been increased, and recovery time has been reduced.
  • Carian Greatsword – Cast speed increased when dexterity is low.
  • Magma Shot has a lower FP cost and a faster cast speed.
  • Roiling Magma – Cast speed has been increased, and the time until the magma explodes has been reduced.
  • Gelmir’s Fury – Slightly reduced the projectile’s random range and increased the lava pool’s damage. The hitbox has been expanded.
  • FP cost for Rykard’s Rancor has been reduced.
  • Oracle Bubbles – Cast speed has been increased, and recovery time has been reduced.
  • Great Oracular Bubble – Cast speed has been increased, and recovery time has been reduced.
  • Briars of Sin – Recovery time has been reduced. Blood loss on the enemy has increased.
  • Briars of Punishment – Recovery time has been reduced. Blood loss on the enemy has increased.
  • Explosive Ghostflame – Reduced the cost of FP and the time it takes to recover.
  • Tibia’s Summon – Damage and cast speed have been increased.
  • The Crucible’s Characteristics: Tail – FP and stamina costs have been reduced.
  • The Crucible’s Characteristics: Horns have had their FP and stamina costs reduced. Casting speed should be increased. When not charged, increased the distance traveled and made it easier to make enemies flinch when charged.
  • Elden Stars – Casting speed has increased and recovery time has decreased.
  • Black Blade – Consumes less stamina and takes less time to recover.
  • Discus of Light – FP cost has been reduced. Damage and cast speed have both been increased.
  • Increased damage with Triple Rings of Light
  • FP cost for Radagon’s Rings of Light has been reduced. Damage and cast speed have both been increased. Recovery time has been shortened.
  • Lightning Strike’s Stamina cost has been reduced. Casting speed has increased, and recovery time has decreased.
  • Honed Bolt – Faster casting and faster recovery time.
  • Ancient Dragons’ Lightning Spear’s FP and stamina costs have been reduced. Casting speed has increased, and recovery time has decreased. Allows the caster to withstand enemy attacks more easily while casting.
  • Ancient Dragons’ Lightning Strike – Recovery time has been reduced.
  • Lansseax’s Glaive now costs less FP and stamina. Casting speed has increased, and recovery time has decreased. Allows the caster to withstand enemy attacks more easily while casting.
  • Fortissax’s Lightning Spear’s FP and stamina costs have been reduced. Casting speed has increased, and recovery time has decreased. Allows the caster to cast more easily while surviving enemy attacks.
  • Frozen Lightning Spear’s Stamina cost has been reduced. Casting speed has increased, and recovery time has decreased. Allows the caster to withstand enemy attacks more easily while casting.
  • Death Lightning’s FP cost has been reduced, and the duration of death-accumulating smoke has been increased.
  • O, Flame! – Damage has been increased.
  • Giantsflame Take Thee – Stamina Cost Reduced
  • Flame of the Fell God has had its FP cost reduced and its damage increased.
  • Whirl, O Flame! – Damage has been increased, and recovery time has been reduced.
  • Burn, O Flame! – Cast speed has been increased, and recovery time has been reduced.
  • Black Flame – Increases damage and makes it easier to break the enemy’s guard.
  • Scouring Black Flame – Reduced the cost of FP and the time it takes to recover. Attack range and area of effect have been increased.
  • Black Flame Ritual now has a lower FP cost and more damage.
  • Gurranq’s Beast Claw now does more damage and takes less time to recover.
  • Bloodflame Talons’ FP cost has been reduced, and the cast speed has been increased. Recovery time has been shortened.
  • Increased damage from Bloodboon. Cast speed was increased, and effect start-up time was reduced, as well as recovery time.
  • Pest Threads – Stamina cost has been reduced.
  • Scarlet Aeonia – Casting speed has increased and recovery time has decreased. Allows the caster to withstand enemy attacks more easily while casting.
  • Unbearable Frenzy – Cast speed has been increased and recovery time has been reduced. Reduced the range of the projectile’s random nature and increased the buildup of Madness on enemies.
  • Increased cast speed in Inescapable Frenzy.
  • Placidusax’s Ruin – FP, stamina cost, and recovery time have all been reduced.
  • Dragonclaw – Reduced the cost of FP, stamina, and recovery time, as well as making it easier to make enemies flinch when charged.
  • Dragonmaw – Reduced FP, stamina cost, recovery time, and cast speed, as well as making it easier to make enemies flinch when charged.
  • Greyoll’s Roar – FP, stamina cost, and recovery time have all been reduced.

Upward and downward adjustments

  • Adula’s Moonblade – Decreased the power of a single cast and improved performance so that the blades and frost hit more consistently and continuously. Increased cast speed at lower dexterity.
  • Flame, Fall Upon Them – Decreased the damage of a single cast and improved the performance so that it hits the enemy multiple times. Decreased FP cost.
  • Howl of Shabriri – Decreased the madness buildup on the enemy. Increased cast speed and decreased recovery time.

Downward adjustments

  • Swarm of Flies – Decreased blood loss buildup on the enemy.
  • The Flame of Frenzy – Decreased madness buildup on the enemy.
  • Frenzied Burst – Decreased madness buildup on the enemy.

Weapon Skill

Upward adjustments

  • Increased cast speed and reduced recovery time with Lion’s Claw.
  • Kick – Cast speed has been increased.
  • Hoarah Loux’s Earthshaker’s cast speed has been increased. On follow-up input, cast speed was increased, and recovery time was reduced.
  • Troll’s Roar now has a lower stamina cost. Increased distance traveled by increasing cast speed on follow-up input.
  • Reduced recovery time for Giant Hunt.
  • Storm Assault – Recovery time has been sped up.
  • Carian Greatsword – Cast speed has been increased, and recovery time has been reduced. When charged, increased the damage and made it easier to make enemies flinch.
  • Carian Grandeur – Cast speed has been increased, and recovery time has been reduced. When charging, increased the damage and made it easier to make enemies flinch.
  • Gravitas – Cast speed has been increased.
  • Flaming Strike – In a strong attack, increased the travel distance of a stepping cleave.
  • Black Flame Tornado – Added a hitbox to the weapon when it spins, as well as a window to roll through during the attack to cancel the animation.
  • Lightning Slash’s cast speed has been increased. The stomp animation now has a hitbox.
  • Sacred Blade’s cast speed has been increased.
  • Sacred Ring of Light’s cast speed has been increased.
  • Poisonous Mist’s cast speed has been increased.
  • Poison Moth Flight – Cast speed has been increased, and recovery time has been reduced.
  • Ice Spear – The weapon’s spinning animation now has a hitbox.
  • Cast speed has been increased for Chilling Mist.
  • Cast speed has been increased in Assassin’s Gambit.
  • Shield Bash’s cast speed has been increased.
  • Shield Crash – Stamina cost has been reduced. Casting speed has been increased.
  • Stamina cost has been reduced in Blade of Gold. Casting speed has increased, and recovery time has decreased.
  • Blade of Death – Cast speed has been increased, and recovery time has been reduced.
  • Reduced FP cost and increased cast speed with Golden Tempering. Effect duration has been lengthened.
  • Last Rites – Cast speed has been increased.
  • Mists of Slumber’s cast speed has been increased.
  • Eochaid’s Dancing Blade – Increased travel distance and added a window to roll through to cancel the animation during the attack.
  • Unblockable Blade – The weapon Coded Sword now has a faster cast speed.
  • Alabaster Lords’ Pull – Cast speed has been increased and recovery time has been reduced. A window has been added that can be rolled during the attack to cancel the animation.
  • Establish Order – On follow-up input, the recovery time was reduced and the cast speed was increased. Damage has been increased. It’s now easier to make enemies flinch.
  • Moonlight Greatsword’s FP cost has been reduced. Casting speed has increased, and recovery time has decreased. During the duration of the skill, the frost buildup effect has been increased.
  • FP cost has been reduced in Wave of Gold. Casting speed has increased, and recovery time has decreased.
  • Wolf’s Assault – Cast speed has been increased, and recovery time has been reduced.
  • The Queen’s Black Flame’s cast speed has been increased. A window has been added that can be rolled during the attack to cancel the animation.
  • Dynast’s Finesse – Stamina cost has been reduced.
  • Stamina cost is reduced when using a flowing form.
  • Death Flare’s cast speed has been increased.
  • Onyx Lord’s Repulsion now has a faster cast time and a faster recovery time. A window has been added that can be rolled during the attack to cancel the animation.
  • Magma Guillotine now costs less stamina and casts faster. On follow-up input, recovery time was reduced.
  • Cursed-Blood Slice now has a faster cast time and a faster recovery time.
  • Ice Lightning Sword’s cast speed has been increased. The stomp animation now has a hitbox.
  • Rosus’ Summons – Recovery time has been reduced.
  • Kneel, I Command Thee! – Cast speed has been increased, as well as follow-up input. A window has been added that can be rolled during the attack to cancel the animation.
  • Gold Breaker’s FP cost has been reduced. Casting speed has increased, and recovery time has decreased.
  • Familial Rancor – Added a window that can be rolled to cancel the animation during the attack.
  • Nebula – The weapon Bastard’s Stars now has a faster cast speed and a faster recovery time.
  • Cast speed has been increased for Regal Beastclaw.
  • Cast speed has been increased for Devourer of Worlds.
  • Reduced recovery time with Regal Roar.
  • Spearcall Ritual – Recovery time is reduced.
  • Lightning from the past Spear’s FP cost has been reduced, and the cast speed has been increased. Allows players to withstand enemy attacks more easily while casting.
  • Great-Serpent Hunt – Decreased recovery time and increased damage. Enables players to more easily withstand enemy attacks.
  • Frenzyflame Thrust – Decreased FP cost, decreased recovery time. Reduced the accumulation of madness on one’s own person.
  • Bloodboon Ritual’s cast speed has been increased.
  • Miquella’s Ring of Light – Increased cast speed.
  • Sea of Magma – Increased cast speed and decreased recovery time. A window has been added that can be rolled during the attack to cancel the animation.
  • Flame Dance – Decreased Stamina cost, decreased recovery time. A window has been added that can be rolled during the attack to cancel the animation.
  • Storm Kick – Decreased Stamina cost.
  • Bear Witness! – Increased cast speed.

Upward and downward adjustments

  • Thundercloud Form – Decreased damage when not charged. Decreased FP cost. Increased cast speed and decreased recovery time.

Bug Fixes

  • Inescapable Frenzy’s damage was affected by the right-hand weapon, which was fixed.
  • Fixed a bug where the damage of the weapon arts “Carian retaliation” was affected by weapon and status, and the effect was not visible during online multiplayer.
  • Fixed a bug where the animation was larger than intended when suffering from blood loss and frostbite.
  • Fixed a bug where some parameter changes in the character appearance change menu were not always reflected.
  • When executing “Leave” on some items, a bug prevented a dialog from appearing.
  • A bug was fixed that allowed players to pass unauthorized items to other players.
  • In multiplayer, a bug was fixed that prevented grace from being registered on the map if it was discovered right before the player was summoned.
  • Fixed a bug that prevented the Rennala Queen Of The Full Moon fight mechanic from working properly during cooperative multiplayer on occasion.
  • After defeating Morgott, the Omen King, a bug that prevented the player from entering the boss area was fixed.
  • After defeating all of the bosses in Liurnia of the Lake, a bug was fixed that prevented “Edgar the Revenger” and “Festering Fingerprint Vyke” from invading.
  • If the player was unable to obtain the item Tonic of Forgetfulness due to quest progression, it can now be obtained at the Volcano Manor.
  • When a player died in “Stormveil Castle,” a bug caused the reduction of runes due to NPC “Gostoc” to occur at an unintended time.
  • After assisting Millicent at Miquella’s Haligtree, I added a protective barrier to prevent her from being accidentally killed.
  • A bug that prevented the player from receiving the reward after defeating the Dung Eater has been fixed.
  • A bug that prevented the player from progressing through Diallos’ questline was fixed.
  • A bug that prevented the player from duplicating remembrance at the Walking Mausoleum had been fixed.
  • When dual wielding thrusting sword, a bug prevented players from inputting consecutive attacks.
  • When poison affinity is applied to the weapon, the scythe’s blood loss effect is lost.
  • When an affinity was applied, the damage of the Iron Greatsword was lower than expected. This has been fixed.
  • When the player cast Night Comet with charge, the player’s FP consumption increased.
  • Fixed a bug that prevented the default weapon skill key (Left Ctrl) from being set on the keyboard (on PC only).
  • In the Steam version, a bug was fixed in which the history of multiplayer players was not displayed correctly in certain circumstances.
  • Online multiplayer stability has been improved.
  • A bug was fixed that caused incorrect sounds to be played in certain situations.
  • Fixed a bug that caused incorrect visuals and hitbox in some areas of the map.
  • Fixed a bug that caused some enemies’ visuals and behavior to be incorrect.
  • A bug that caused some armor to have incorrect stats has been fixed.
