Elden Ring has set the bar high for future RPGs by reaching a massive audience on its first day of release on Steam.
Featured Elden Ring Big Release Numbers

Elden Ring is the latest game to be released by FromSoftware, who are the makers of the well-known Souls series that punishes players with brutal difficulties and tense gameplay. While Elden Ring isn’t technically a Souls game, it does share a lot of similarities with the popular RPG series. This time they’ve opened up the world a bit more, which will have players exploring unfamiliar landscapes and fighting off enemies that are extremely tough to defeat.

It is no shock to fans of FromSoftware games, but it might surprise others who are less familiar with the genre. The game has received rave reviews from critics, which has given more people the confidence to take the chance on playing this game. SteamDB.info has recorded a peak of 764,483 players trying their hand at Elden Ring on the first day of its release! This is a massive debut for the hardcore RPG that dips its toe in some unfamiliar waters.

While it hasn’t reached the all-time peak of games such as PUBG and Lost Ark, it has etched its name in the history books by having the 7th all-time peak ever recorded by the SteamDB charts. The player counts are no doubt much higher when you consider consoles are not factored into this number.

This is great news for FromSoftware, but players on the PC aren’t all feeling the love right now. Unfortunately, there have been some issues with performance on the platform. Players are reporting quite a few problems that affect hardware configurations and graphical presets. While the day-one patch has seemingly helped smooth out some issues, it looks like PC players are going to have to wait for some additional love before they can play the game at the level of next-gen consoles.

While I’m sure that the game will eventually be patched in a way that will help fix some of the issues that players are experiencing, it isn’t there yet. Unfortunately, if you’re playing the game during the launch on the PC, you are just going to have to hope you are one of the lucky ones that doesn’t experience too much stuttering or hitching!
