Endling – Extinction is Forever, the indie survival adventure hit from developer Herobeat Studios, has just announced that it will release on iOS and Android devices on February 7th, 2023. The release date trailer description adds that it will be a 1:1 port, and “feature everything the PC and console versions”, with a price tag of $/€9.99. Here’s today’s new trailer from publisher Handy Games:
Endling – Extinction is Forever really shook up the indie scene when it launched last July. The art design is absolutely stunning, but the premise turned out to be surprisingly potent. The narrative unfolds with an emotional sincerity that most AAA games can’t be bothered with.
The parental role creates an intense connection with the characters and their journey, and automatically creates higher stakes. Further, it weaves its themes and commentary into the story so seamlessly that they do not feel shoehorned, which is the only truly effective approach.
It’s nice that the port for Endling – Extinction is Forever will include all of the original features. Though side-scrolling adventures like this aren’t necessarily demanding, it would be a shame for this game to lose its flow due to a disruptive port. Many mobile releases have to compromise, so fans should be pleased that the devs put in the effort.
This should also smooth over the mobile experience. Endling – Extinction is Forever should probably be played on the biggest screen possible, to appreciate its finer details. Any screenshot from this game is a suitable wallpaper. However, it will be nice to take it on the go, similar to the Nintendo Switch launch. It will also invite more casual gamers to try out other indie games.
