WayForward Entertainment and Limited Run Games have made an announcement, revealing the upcoming release of the enhanced version of the classic survival horror point-and-click adventure game, Clock Tower, on several modern gaming platforms. Originally released in 1995 for the Super Famicom in Japan through a collaboration between Sunsoft and Capcom, Clock Tower has earned its place as one of the pioneers in the survival horror genre, serving as a blueprint for future horror titles.
Limited Run Games recently unveiled Clock Tower as one of the highlights of their LRG3 summer showcase, where they announced several beloved titles making their way to modern platforms. This timeless horror gem will finally be available for the first time outside of Japan with a number of exciting additions and enhancements. With this enhanced version, fans can expect a new animated opening video, new theme songs, and video galleries, all made possible by Limited Run Games’ Carbon Engine. It will also offer extensive language support, including English, Japanese, French, Italian, German, and Spanish.
In Clock Tower, players will assume the role of Jennifer Simpson, a young orphan trapped within the eerie Barrows family manor. Constantly pursued by the terrifying Scissorman, a slasher villain who wields a large pair of scissors, Jennifer must skillfully navigate the mansion’s haunting rooms, scouring every corner for crucial items, unraveling secrets, and discovering hiding places to fend off or avoid the relentless attacker.
Clock Tower boasts remarkable features, such as a haunting atmosphere and sound effects, delivering an immersive horror experience. It also includes randomized elements that maximize replayability, ensuring that each playthrough offers a unique and suspenseful encounter.
The enhanced version of Clock Tower is scheduled for an early 2024 release on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam.
