Sean Plott, better known as Day9, has recently announced the founding of his own game studio through a Twitter post. The esports commentator, player, event host, and game designer shared that the studio is already funded and currently hiring for a Technical Director and Art Director. Day9’s new venture aims to create a multiplayer PC strategy game, attracting talent with a passion for the gaming genre.
Day9 has a rich history in the world of esports, making a name for himself in the professional StarCraft scene as both a player and commentator. He has consistently appeared at various tournaments for the game over the years, showcasing his expertise and passion. Beyond StarCraft, Plott has also dabbled in other competitive games like Magic: The Gathering, Hearthstone, and Dota 2. In fact, he co-hosted The International 2017, Dota 2’s most prestigious tournament.
Plott’s experience in game development is not new, as he previously worked with Artillery, a game company he joined in September 2013. During his time there, he contributed to the real-time strategy game Guardians of Atlas, which became available for beta testing in 2016. However, Day9 left Artillery in August 2016 to explore other opportunities, and Guardians of Atlas was subsequently discontinued in September 2016.
With the establishment of his own game studio, Day9 is poised to bring his experience and knowledge in both esports and game development to the table. As the studio searches for talented individuals to fill the roles of Technical Director and Art Director, anticipation grows for the multiplayer PC strategy game that will be the result of this new, ambitious project.
