EastAsiaSoft, best known for their Sea Horizon and Sword and Fairy games, just hosted a brand-new showcase today. The video featured their plans for over a dozen different titles expected to release in “early 2023 and beyond”.
Today’s showcase included a wide variety of games, including ports for Mugen Souls, Rainbow Skies and more. You can watch the full showcase on EastAsiaSoft’s official YouTube channel here:
Mugen Souls
Mugen Souls, a JRPG from 2012, has received very mixed responses for its mechanics, porting problems, and general quality-of-life issues. However, it’s very dense, and the content itself has pleased fans of the genre. A digital return will arrive on Nintendo Switch in Spring 2023, and physical copies can be pre-ordered today.
Rainbow Skies
This fantasy RPG combines traditional tropes of the genre with monster taming, and originally launched in 2018. EAS has revealed a new Nintendo Switch port for the game next year, and it’ll make a great mobile game, but fans didn’t get a release window.
Schildmaid MX
While Schildmaid MX can be purchased on PC now, it’s finally coming to PlayStation, Switch, and Xbox sometime in 2023. While there’s no release window for those platforms, the Steam page expects a port in Q1 of 2023.
Hot Blood
This strange, slightly naughty beat ’em up with physics-based action was announced for “consoles and PC in 2023”, though specific platforms weren’t mentioned.
Burrow of the Fallen Bear
Likely one of the more niche games in today’s showcase, this visual novel celebrates gay furry culture. Today, EAS confirmed a launch date of January 12th, 2023, for Nintendo Switch and both PlayStation gens.
Wings of Bluestar
This deeply overlooked nod to retro space shooters launched years ago, but it’ll finally be ported to major consoles on January 18th, 2023.
Sissa’s Path
Gamers who love cats should be very pleased with this one. It’s another hidden gem with decent Steam reviews, a clever hook, and a tremendously adorable art design. Sissa’s Path has confirmed a release date for January 25th, 2023.
Albacete Warrior
This oddball blend of pixel art and ninja action surprisingly supports cooperative play, making it ideal for an indie party lineup. It’ll be available on PlayStation, Xbox, and Switch on February 1st, 2023.
The Redress of Mira
One of the most scenic and ambitious indies around, it quietly released on Steam in the middle of last year. This immersive adventure has a variety of mechanics connected by intriguing lore, so hopefully more players will take a look when it reaches Xbox and PlayStation on February 8th, 2023.
Ayre and the Crystal Comet
This casual open world exploration game has been totally overlooked since launching on Steam in 2020. It’ll have another chance to find its audience with an Xbox and PlayStation port in early 2023.
Cions of Vega
This emotional mystery was able to muster up some impressive graphics in 2021, but it’s the storytelling that hooks you. It’ll come to Xbox and PlayStation in early 2023.
Echoblade
Although the echoing mechanic looks like a gimmick, it’s still remarkably clever, and puzzles are at the center of the game. Escaping deadly puzzles with a unique tool calls Portal to mind, and it’s coming to Xbox, PlayStation and Switch in early 2023.
Hyper-5
This retro homage to sci-fi shoot ’em ups distinguishes itself by adding complex modern graphics and visuals, so the devs can have their cake and eat it too. The artwork is definitely stylish and impressive. A release date wasn’t confirmed for early 2023, but it’ll be available on Switch, PlayStation and Xbox.
Pocket Witch
This very cute platformer will arrive on Switch, PlayStation and Xbox in early 2023. It’s relatively simple and doesn’t add anything inventive to the genre, but fans of the theme should be pleased, and that could be enough.
Reverie
This retro pixel game is getting an enhanced “Sweet as Edition” with all-new content, giving fans an incentive to revisit this small indie. It arrives on Steam, Xbox, and PlayStation 5 in early 2023, strangely skipping over last-gen PlayStation consoles.
