Evil West has just released the new 1.0.5 update, including full patch notes for all of the fixes and additions fans can expect. The patch is available now on all platforms, adding a new “Invincible Set” that restores HP. There are also plenty of improvements for quality of life, straightening out some of the larger bugs that players have been experiencing.

Here’s today’s announcement from developer Flying Wild Hog, which reveals the full list of changes:

Evil West has thrived on its impeccable sense of style, leaning into bloody and bonkers gameplay in place of complex storytelling. And there’s absolutely nothing wrong with that if the combat is as supremely entertaining as this.

However, there have been more than a few surprising bugs. Most of the highlights involve progression, fixing up the infinite loading screen, as well as the dreaded total progress destruction if you felt like trying out True Death mode.

The Invincible Set is definitely a fun reward for those who dare to complete the full game in True Death mode. Players will receive a coat, hat and scarf. Dealing Gauntlet damage to enemies restores “a small amount of HP”.

Still, it’s really unfortunate that the Invincible Set can only be applied after the update itself. Players who already went through the trouble won’t be automatically rewarded, and while this is clearly due to technical obstacles, it’s very disappointing. It’s hard to underestimate the replay value of Evil West, though.

For cooperative players, one of the nagging issues was the revive disruptions. Fortunately, the devs have made it so that dodging and damage cannot interrupt the process. Reviving is a natural mechanic in most team-based games, especially shooters, so it became absolutely infuriating in the midst of Evil West’s chaos.
