Fall Guys offers everything that’s great about the platformer genre. It combines a manic sense of urgency and excellent timing with a colorful and casual sense of fun.

This made the game a runaway hit, especially with its charming visuals that resemble other trending ragdoll hits like Gang Beasts or even Human Fall Flat.

However, the game released as far back as August 2020, and the playerbase has definitely shrunk. In fact, its success is often a flash in the pan. So, any news about its future is a welcome surprise, because it remains a beloved game.

For the time being, Fall Guys is mainly a $20 game, though it found its greatest success as a free title on the PlayStation Plus subscription service.

Now that Fall Guys will be free on all platforms, renewed interest is sure to go through the roof. It’s a highly addictive multiplayer game, and the ability to include a lot of friends has been popular in other trends like Among Us.

However, if Fall Guys intends to go FTP, then some changes might be in store. Like any other transition into free-to-play, fans that recently purchased the game will be disappointed.

But in order to remain profitable, some games resort to highly criticized tactics like microtransactions. Hopefully, Fall Guys will find the best way to succeed on its new path.

More details from the Big Announcement

Aside from going FTP, Fall Guys is also going to provide crossplay and even cross-progression between all of the new platforms it’s joining.

Fans should expect dozens of new levels and obstacles, as well as a Season pass that will reward players with new skins as well, such as the “Fry Guy” character. Yes, they look exactly like fast food fries.

Epic Games has posted a link, which you can find here, allowing fans to pre-register for rewards! Aside from some Kudos, the rewards mainly include cosmetics, such as a nameplate and some skins.

These rewards will be given to all pre-registered players, so you’ll need to sign up before June 27th, 2022 to unlock all of the milestones together.
