There has been a large increase in mascot horror titles over the last decade, thanks mostly to the jumpstart from Five Nights at Freddy’s. Now, the series is set to get its first movie in just under two months on Oct. 27. Ahead of that release, Universal Pictures has put a second official trailer for Five Nights at Freddy’s.
The trailer starts by showing some characters breaking into Freddy Fazbear’s Pizzeria, where one guy is immediately assaulted by Chica and Mr. Cupcake. Fans can also see more of Matthew Lillard and Josh Hutcherson in their roles as William Afton and a security guard, respectively. There’s also a better look at the horror in this trailer, with a child’s hand reaching out of the mouth of one of the animatronics.
There is a lot more information provided in this trailer, including looks at the animatronics that fans haven’t seen up to this point. There are also paranormal dream sequences where Hutcherson’s character interacts with the deceased children in a large grassy area, likely hinting at how deep into the lore the movie will go.
One woman can be seen getting closer to Freddy Fazbear, standing on a chair to peer into its mouth before a child’s hand reaches out of the mouth. There are other quick flashes of the horror audiences can expect, including a character trapped in a large death machine and characters running from the animatronics once they turn evil.
