In a surprising turn of events, the trailer for the upcoming Five Nights at Freddy’s (FNAF) movie has been leaked online. The trailer was posted in two parts on Twitter by user @zazaranhoz, who appears to have gained access to the footage through a survey. Despite being covered in identification markers due to what was likely a non-disclosure agreement (NDA), the trailer can still be viewed online, providing fans with an early glimpse into the film.
The Five Nights at Freddy’s movie, based on the popular video game franchise created and developed by Scott Cawthon, is an American supernatural horror film directed by Emma Tammi. The screenplay was co-written by Tammi, Cawthon, and Seth Cuddeback. The film features an ensemble cast, including Josh Hutcherson, Matthew Lillard, Mary Stuart Masterson, Piper Rubio, Kat Conner Sterling, and Elizabeth Lail.
Initially announced in April 2015, the film was set to be produced by Warner Bros. Pictures, with Gil Kenan tapped to direct and co-write the script. However, after several production delays, Warner Bros. eventually put the project into turnaround, and Kenan was no longer involved. In March 2017, it was revealed that Blumhouse Productions would be taking over the film’s production. Chris Columbus was set to write and direct the movie in February 2018 but later left the project. Emma Tammi replaced Columbus as director and co-writer in October 2022.
Principal photography for the FNAF movie began in February 2023 in New Orleans, concluding on April 3 of the same year. The film is scheduled for release in theaters and on the Peacock streaming platform in the United States on October 27, 2023, through Universal Pictures.
