Luminous Productions, the developer of divisive action RPG Forspoken, has just officially announced that an upcoming patch will target a variety of issues, inspired by fan feedback. Although the announcement carefully spoke in broad terms, it also mentioned a surprising number of categories. This mainly included quality of life and technical improvements, across both the PC and PlayStation platforms.
A release date has not been confirmed for the big update, but it will be revealed “as soon as possible”, according to today’s tweet from the official Forspoken feed:
Takeshi Aramaki, the director of Forspoken, remained pretty vague throughout today’s statement. Playability could literally refer to anything. However, it’s also clear that the upcoming patch will be very ambitious, which should come as a relief for fans of the game.
Forspoken has faced a lot of criticism, and even that feels like an understatement. But that is mostly regarding its content, which is totally subjective. Despite so much controversy over the quirky and silly approach to the storytelling, the visuals are absolutely gorgeous, and the fantasy parkour elements have seen a lot of praise.
The conceptual mechanics are generally considered the highlight of the game. So, cleaning up the technical side of things may encourage some skeptical newcomers to try out the game after all. And existing fans should be pleased with the effort.
Today’s announcement suggests that the devs are genuinely listening to the fanbase and dedicated to the game. Even if you don’t happen to agree with the game’s content style, today’s response was pretty quick, given that Forspoken only just launched a couple of weeks ago. If that level of support can be maintained, Forspoken should have decent legs.
