Fortnite has just officially announced their first Crew Pack of 2023, featuring a Gildhart outfit, Golden Guard Back Bling, and the Gilt Glaive Pickaxe. The new pack will be available for Fortnite Crew subscribers on December 31st, 2022, rolling out at 7 PM eastern time. Here’s the full tweet from Fortnite’s official feed:
For the uninitiated, Fortnite Crew memberships give players the opportunity to pay for exclusive bundles each month, in addition to other perks like 1,000 V-Bucks. Until May 31, 2023, players can also unlock different pieces of the Photonic Legacy Set.
January’s Crew Pack has been a little more divisive among fans than usual. It’s basically a love or hate bundle, which likely due to its simplicity. There’s a clear theme that some will enjoy, since knights and medieval imagery are fairly popular. But it isn’t quite as detailed as previous Crew Packs.
Unfortunately, there’s also less content than usual, especially compared to last month’s bundle. December’s Joni the Red Crew Pack came with a new lobby track, loading screen, and players could even toggle her mask, glasses, and hairpins in the locker. It was very satisfying, even if the vampire theme was a little late.
Crew Packs only pop up every month, so it’s a long wait between bundles, and they’re one of the key incentives for players to subscribe. With only three items, it’s understandable if some fans are disappointed.
Still, Fortnite remains one of the busiest free-to-play games in the genre, consistently rolling out dozens of content updates and collaborations with massive IP. Just days ago, Fortnite’s Icon Series added Giannis Antetokounmpo. While the Crew Pack may not be kicking off 2023 with a bang for some fans, there’s certainly hope for plenty more.
