Fortnite has officially added a new Skywalker Week update that will run until November 8th, 2022, at 9 AM eastern time. Specifically, the cosmetics for the first week of November will focus on Luke, Han and Leia. Note that Skywalker Week changes will not be added to the competitive playlists, for natural reasons. Here’s the big announcement, which includes a teaser for all of the patched content:

Star Wars has returned to Fortnite, and the emphasis on the original trilogy is much appreciated. The outfits and accessories are iconic, and welcome in playful titles like Fortnite. Previously, the Imperial Stormtrooper got the original trilogy treatment, so it’s fun to leave the dark side for fan favorite heroes.

Other highlights from the big Skywalker Week update include Vader’s lightsaber being unvaulted, a Landspeeder glider, and Return of the Jedi content. It’s an underrated sequel, so content from this one can be hard to come by in any title.

This is basically a harmless update, and with the general success of both the highly accessible Andor and surprisingly effective Tales of the Jedi, fans of the franchise are enjoying some top tier content.

However, some Fortnite fans are a little annoyed nonetheless, since Star Wars has crossed over with Fortnite countless times at this point. This sort of waters down the novelty, but it’s also enjoyable content anyway, so it seems hard to complain.

The main issue is that Fortnite has the clout for plenty of other opportunities for major IP crossovers, and it can be a shame when fan speculation isn’t rewarded. That just isn’t feasible for any game, but Fortnite also its own compelling lore, and it’d be nice to see some more of that too.
