In its latest hotfix for version v25.00, Fortnite announced that the Red-Eye Assault Rifle would be replaced with the newly introduced MK-Alpha. This change affects all playlists, with the MK-Alpha becoming available at all rarities.
The MK-Alpha Assault Rifle is an updated iteration of the MK-Seven AR from Fortnite Chapter 3, now featuring a series of notable changes. The MK-Alpha now has increased damage output compared to its predecessor. Simultaneously, the fire rate has been decreased, offering a trade-off between damage and firing speed.
Additionally, the MK-Alpha’s reload time has been increased, which could impact the weapon’s utility in high-pressure combat situations. However, the developers have decreased the recoil, which should potentially aid player accuracy. A decrease in the magazine size, also brings the power level of it down a bit.
With the introduction of the MK-Alpha, the Red-Eye Assault Rifle has now been vaulted, marking an end to its tenure in the Fortnite armory. Players can expect the MK-Alpha Assault Rifle to remain in the loot pool for at least the remainder of Season 3.
In terms of gameplay implications, the upcoming in-game boss, named Relik, will carry a Mythic version of the MK-Alpha. Upon eliminating this boss, players can acquire this upgraded weapon variant.
