Epic has already raised over $36 million in humanitarian relief for Ukraine–and that’s in less than two days! Proceeds from Fortnite will continue to be donated through April 3rd, 2022, which is almost two more weeks of proceeds that will going towards helping Ukraine.
Epic Games will be distributing funds as quickly as possible as they are not waiting for the funds to arrive from our platform and payment partners, which can take a long time depending on how the transaction was handled. They are going to log transactions as they come in and deliver funds to humanitarian aid organizations within days.
Fortnite’s proceeds from March 20th, 2022 through April 3rd, 2022, will be distributed to several organizations. The humanitarian relief groups that will be supported are listed below. They’re on the ground, offering medical assistance, food and clean water, necessary supplies, legal assistance, and shelter. In the next weeks, more organizations will be added to this list.
- UNICEF: They are providing children with water, health, and education services on the ground in Ukraine.
- World Food Programme: This is a United Nations agency that is working to reduce hunger.
- UN Refugee Agency: This is a United Nations agency that helps to protect the rights of refugees, asylum-seekers, stateless people, and all who are forced to flee their home countries.
- Direct Relief: They are a non-governmental, non-profit organization that provides urgent aid, such as medical aid, to Ukraine and helping Ukrainians fleeing the war.
From March 20th, 2022 to April 3rd, 2022, all proceeds will be donated to humanitarian relief for people affected by the war in Ukraine. Xbox is joining Epic Games in this initiative and pledging their net revenues to Fortnite during this time, allowing us to provide greater assistance to the people of Ukraine.
What purchases count towards supporting people affected by the war in Ukraine?
Between March 20, 2022 and April 3, 2022, all real-money Fortnite purchases will be distributed. V-Buck packs, Fortnite Crew, given Battle Passes, and cosmetic packs like the Voidlander Pack. In-game cosmetics purchased in a retail store and V-Bucks cards redeemed in-game during this window will also be included.
V-Bucks transactions in Fortnite are not included because they are not real-money purchases.
100 percent of Epic’s Fortnite proceeds is equal to the gross purchase price of all Fortnite in-game purchases or retail purchase redemptions transacted between March 20, 2022 and April 3, 2022 from sales throughout the world, excluding taxes, third-party platform fees, refunds, returns, or reversals.
Between March 20, 2022 and April 3, 2022, Microsoft will donate the net proceeds from all Fortnite content sales on the Microsoft Store in all countries where Fortnite is sold. Returns and chargebacks, billing charges, bandwidth costs, operational costs, and taxes are all deducted from net proceeds.
