To the surprise of many fans, Fortnite has just announced that the upcoming v21.30 patch will launch on Monday, July 18th, 2022. The update is scheduled to begin at at 04:00 ET (09:00 UTC), so expect matchmaking to be disabled a half hour beforehand.

Here’s the official statement from Fortnite Status‘ Twitter feed, which covers service updates instead of broader news:

Rumors, leaks and past update schedules convinced players to suspect a big summer update on July 19th. However, that’s still partly true. This may have been a result of another announcement that immediately followed the early patch reveal:

For many players, another school year is going to begin on the first week of August, so it’ll be fortunate to get some extra time with a summer Fortnite update.

Fans are curious about what new content will be available, and popular Fortnite leaker HYPEX dug up some interesting news earlier today. One of their latest tweets discusses the name of an unfinished challenges category, which potentially relates to a Charlotte skin:

HYPEX also used survey information to predict some other potential cosmetics, putting up a lineup of seven different skins that would be a proper fit for a summer update. Of course, the summer theme isn’t officially confirmed, but it makes plenty of sense.

HYPEX has frequently been a reliable source for upcoming content, so their personal opinion should definitely have a lot of clout with fans. You can check out the possibilities here:

Fortnite’s latest season has been an absolute marathon of new content, with countless crossover reveals like Dragonball Z and Indiana Jones, as well as big map changes due to the reality bloom effect.
