FunPlus Phoenix match in 2022 VCT Championship delayed due to health issues

One of the most awaited matches in VALORANT Championship, FPX vs. XSET, has been delayed due to health issues.

The VALORANT Championship is finally here, where teams such as OpTic Gaming, FunPlus Phoenix, and Paper Rex will be competing. Unfortunately, things do not always go as planned. The next champion of VALORANT Champions 2022 in Istanbul has been eagerly anticipated by millions of fans from across the globe. However, the final match for Group C, which was set to be held today, September 4, has been postponed to Monday, September 5.

Recently, Valorant Esports official Twitter account announced that FunPlus Phoenix (FPX) were unable to have a full roster due to their multiple players feeling unwell. The match between FPX vs. XSET is scheduled to continue on September 5 to provide FPX with additional time to recover. The The players’ health problems is not attributable to COVID-19, but rather to food poisoning. Ardis “ardiis” Svarenieks stated in his latest tweet that he is “at the hospital”, while Dmitry “SUYGETSU” Ilyushin mentioned that he will be taking time to rest. Other players have no updates on their condition yet.

FPX has dealt with roster availability issues before when they were prevented from participating Masters Reykjavik due to travel constraints. They have won the event until the Singapur team returned.

Apart from FPX, multiple players from both 100 Thieves (100T) and OpTic Gaming have been diagnosed with COVID-19 during the course of the previous events at the Istanbul championship. Riot Games has also released an update regarding the COVID-19 protocols.

Riot Games has been very accommodating when it comes to the players’ health and decided to postpone the match. FPX and XSET will face each other at 14:00 (2 pm) CEST before the Fnatic versus FURIA game, which will go as planned.
