HoYoverse is back with a new Genshin Impact Special Program, offering a sneak peek into the highly anticipated version 4.0 update. This upcoming major release is poised to open the nation of Fontaine, introducing an array of new playable characters hailing from this new nation as well as some new gameplay mechanics.
One of HoYoverse’s strategies for each major update is to introduce fresh and innovative content that sets it apart from its predecessors. In the upcoming version 4.0, Travelers will be introduced to a thrilling underwater exploration within Fontaine. According to the recent 4.0 Special Program, Travelers will have the be able to navigate the underwater realms of Fontaine freely, with no need to worry about oxygen levels or stamina depletion. Instead, Genshin Impact 4.0 introduces a new constraint called Aquatic Stamina, which is consumed when sprinting underwater. Nonetheless, there will be Recovery Orbs scattered underwater, which can be used to restore the Traveler’s Aquatic Stamina and HP.
In addition to swimming and diving underwater freely, version 4.0 also brings new means of traversing greater distances underwater with the help of “currents.” Using “currents,” players will be able to quickly move towards their destination, while also being able to freely adjust their position and perspective. With all these new features, Fontaine promises a rich and brand-new way of exploring the open world of Genshin Impact.
As per usual, Travelers will also be able to meet and possibly recruit new playable characters hailing from Fontaine through the new Event Wish Banner in Genshin Impact 4.0 update. Phase 1 Event Wish Banners of this update will feature, Lyney, a 5-star Pyro vision holder and Bow wielder, and Yelan, a 5-star Hydro vision holder and Bow wielder. Lynette, a 4-star Anemo vision holder, and sword wielder, will also be available in the Phase 1 Event Wish Banners.
During the final phase of Genshin Impact 4.0, the beloved Tartaglia, a 5-star Hydro vision holder and Bow wielder, will be returning in the new rerun banners alongside, Zhongli, the 5-star Geo vision holder and Polearm wielder. 4-star Fontaine character, Freminet, who is also a Cryo vision holder and a Claymore wielder, will also be available in the event wish banner of the second phase of the Genshin Impact 4.0 update.
Various exciting new events, including those with a focus on underwater exploration as well as swimming and diving mechanics, will be offered by the upcoming version 4.0. Furthermore, a new Archon Quest awaits, inviting Travelers to embark on a journey to Fontaine. In this new chapter, players will meet Fontaine’s Archon and God of Justice, Focalors, as suggested by Nahida in the previous Archon Quest.
Genshin Impact version 4.0 is scheduled to be released on Wednesday, August 16th, granting enough time for Travelers to accumulate more Primogems in preparation for this eagerly awaited release. Meanwhile, players can continue to take part in the ongoing events presented by the final phase of version 3.8.
