Publisher Bitwave Games has finally announced to launch Gimmick! Special Edition in July 2023.
Gimmick! Special Edition is a remaster of the original platform video game, Gimmick!, which was developed and published by Sunsoft in 1992. The Special Edition is developed by City Connection, and like the original, challenges players to save the day as the platform-bouncing green creature, Yumetaro, by maneuvering through a variety of levels using Yumetaro’s star-shooting power to defeat enemies and progress through the game. Today, Bitwave Games revealed that Gimmick! Special Edition will be available on PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam on July 6th, as well as an Xbox One release “shortly after.”
Gimmick! Special Edition promises to offer a highly enjoyable experience for both fans of the original game and new players alike. With the Special Edition, fans will be able to experience the original game’s stunning physics-based action in a version that has been revived and enhanced with the utmost care and authenticity. Several quality-of-life improvements have also been included to expand the appeal of the game for players new to this classic and those looking for a modern gaming experience.
Gimmick! Special Edition will also feature a Speed Run mode ideal for speedrunners. Others may opt to take their time and explore the world of Gimmick! at their own pace, searching for secrets throughout the game and revealing a surprise by collecting every collectible. For those looking for a hard-core challenge, players can also disable all quality-of-life features in Serious mode to crank up the challenge.
Gimmick! Special Edition also introduces Achievements so that players may take pride in their abilities while displaying their top scores on the new Online Leaderboards. Those who find Gimmick! too daunting to complete in a single sitting may save and reload their progress, rewinding the action to tame the game’s most difficult areas.
You may add Gimmick! Special Edition to your Steam wishlist now to be notified when it becomes available.
