Gord, the upcoming settlement-building survival game developed by Covenant and published by Team17, has finally announced its official release date. Alongside this exciting announcement, a stunning cinematic trailer was unveiled, showcasing the game’s remarkable soundtrack and impressive character designs.
Drawing inspiration from Slavic folklore, Gord delivers an adventure strategy experience within a grim fantasy world. First revealed in 2021 with a projected release in 2022, the game encountered delays that pushed its launch to a 2023 timeframe. Today, during the IGN Summer of Gaming 2023 event, it was announced that Gord is slated to be released on August 8th, 2023, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
In Gord, players will lead the people of the Tribe of the Dawn as they venture deep into forbidden lands. Blending elements of city-building and survival mechanics, Gord enables players to develop their humble settlement into a formidable fortress capable of fending off enemy tribes, gruesome monsters, and mysterious powers that lurk in the surrounding woods.
Gord also features versatile quests, prompting players to venture beyond their settlement, either to prevent calamity from happening or to address a personal matter of one of your subjects. Additionally, the game offers custom Scenarios with procedural generation, allowing players to choose from various primary objectives, and select the level size and the intensity of raids.
Beyond taking control over a community of survivors, players will also delve into the mysteries of Gord‘s world through The Chronicles. Scattered throughout the game’s landscapes, torn pages from The Chronicle serves as an additional challenge for dedicated players who wish to know how the game’s Slavic mythology-inspired narrative unfolds.
