The launch date for Gord, a single-player adventure strategy game, has been moved to August 17, according to a recent announcement. This shift in schedule is aimed at facilitating a simultaneous release on both PC and consoles.

The creators of the game stated: “We’ve made the decision to release Gord slightly later than previously announced, on the 17th of August. This is to ensure the game can launch simultaneously on both PC and consoles. We hope this doesn’t disturb your plans for launch and we look forward to welcoming you to our dark and dangerous world very soon.”

Set in a dark fantasy world inspired by Slavic folklore, Gord allows players to lead the Tribe of the Dawn into forbidden territories. The objective of the game is twofold – build a secure home base, and conquer the darkness outside its boundaries. Players must complete quests that will shape the personalities of their tribe members and ultimately determine the fate of their community.

Gord offers a range of diverse scenarios, where player settlements, known as gords, must be expanded from simple structures into mighty fortresses. However, players must be prepared for challenges – their population faces constant threats from rival tribes, monstrous creatures, and the mysterious forces lurking in the surrounding forests.

The quests within the game extend beyond the safety of the settlement walls. Main objectives will lead the narrative, while side quests and random encounters will take players into the wilderness to engage with legendary beasts, uncover secrets of the Ancients, or eliminate an unwelcome scourge. Players are encouraged to expect the unexpected.

The game offers players extensive control over the setup of their playthrough. Scenario options range from primary objectives, level size, the intensity of raids, environmental settings, types of enemies, starting resources, and even weather severity. However, one can’t overlook the Horrors, an intriguing element woven into the game’s narrative.

Maintaining a healthy populace is crucial for survival in Gord. Players must manage various aspects of their settlers’ lives, from physical health to psychological well-being. Everything from disease and hunger to personal tragedies can affect each settler’s sanity. Players must monitor their subjects carefully, as critically low sanity levels can lead to mental breakdowns or desertion.

In Gord, the favor of the Gods can be gained through prayer, potentially granting access to spellcasting abilities. These magical incantations, both offensive and defensive, can turn the tide of the battlefield. Players can use spells to hide areas from enemies, control menacing beasts, or unleash a fierce fury against any opponents.

The game’s lore is communicated through the Chronicle, which blends real-world Slavic mythology with a dark fantasy narrative. Pages from the Chronicle will be scattered throughout the game’s landscapes, providing a unique challenge for dedicated players. Collecting these pages offers insight into the origins of the Gods, ancient factions, and the enigmatic Whisperers, adding an extra layer of depth and intrigue to the game.
