Green Hell, the hit jungle survival sim game from developer and publisher Creepy Jar, has just announced that its upcoming Building Update will finally roll out on January 23rd, 2023. The update follows fan responses to the pre-update Beta, adding a variety of new features like building in trees, new materials, and a new Notebook. Here’s the big tweet from Green Hell’s official feed:
Green Hell may appear to be another traditional survival sim game, but it has remained hugely popular since launching in 2019 for good reason.
The open world is meticulously crafted, with more details and dangers than most survival games. Its unforgiving difficulty and realism make for a lot of fun, where deaths can be very surprising. Alongside cooperative gameplay, Green Hell became an ideal party game, which is unusual for the survival genre.
The devs absolutely made the most of their Amazon environment, with a wide variety of creatures and obstacles to overcome. Also, fending off madness was a particularly nice touch.
The building update only has a few changes to improve quality of life. Most of it will make a serious difference in general gameplay. The new combination of building in trees and on top of the water makes it clear that Creepy Jar wanted to expand players’ freedom.
This kind of construction could potentially temper some of the Amazon’s challenges, which might disappoint some. But these features will probably invite their own obstacles, and putting together the resources doesn’t seem easy to achieve, to begin with.
Either way, the new mechanics in Green Hell allows players to explore the Amazon even more. So, the new features should provide more than enough incentives for longtime fans to revisit the game.
