When the original dark fantasy RPG Grim Dawn was released in 2016, it was met with praise for its unique combat mechanics and darker themes. The game has continued to receive sporadic support over the years, with the game’s third major update, Fangs of Asterkarn, being announced by developer Crate Entertainment during a recent live stream.
In a graphic shown during the showcase, players can get a look at all of the new features coming to Grim Dawn as part of the Fangs of Asterkarn update. These additions include things like the Conquer the Ascendant game mode, a new Chapter of Cairn, Potion Customizations, and an expanded world overall. It’s a full expansion that builds on the world of Grim Dawn, likely adding hours of gameplay.
Due to its top-down nature, Grim Dawn is often compared to titles like the Diablo series, with the grim themes in both series being the most apparent. Regardless, this continued expansion so long after the game launched shows love from Crate Entertainment, even as it works on recently released titles like 2022’s Farthest Frontier.
