Perp Games VR Showcase event recently went live, presenting an impressive lineup of forthcoming VR titles set to launch on PlayStation VR 2 and various other virtual reality platforms. One of the highlights of the event is HappyFunland, an upcoming VR horror game that will take players on a terrifying journey through a desolate amusement park. Developed by Spectral Illusions, the game promises to deliver a VR horror experience that combines immersive cinematic storytelling with dramatic interactive play.
At the beginning of the game, players will meet a stranger named Larry, in the middle of a South Florida swamp. In need of brave explorers, Larry offers players the job to explore the remnants of Mort Grisly’s HappyFunland. This theme park was built in the late 1960s by the firearms, alcohol, tobacco kingpin and closed soon after his death.
As players venture deeper into the abandoned theme park, they will discover more of the park’s dark history. Offering an unparalleled exploration of fear and excitement, players will also have the opportunity to ride the attractions in HappyFunland that once brought joy to its visitors such as the “Marauders of the Tropic Isles” pirate boat ride, the “Feral Squirrel’s Nutty Excursion” dark ride, “It’s a Happy Little Grisly World,” and “Grisly Manor.”
HappyFunland also challenges players to defend themselves against hostile automaton robots that still haunt the park. These enemy robots went haywire many years ago and killed everybody in the park. To progress through the park’s treacherous map, players will need to solve intricate puzzles, locate keys, and navigate through challenging escape rooms.
HappyFunland will be released later this year on SteamVR. Spectral Illusions has also teamed up with Perp Games to bring HappyFunland for PlayStation VR2 with both digital and physical releasing. The game also supports Vive and Valve Index controllers, as well as Quest 2 via Oculus Link.
