Last Train Home, a real-time strategy historical epic from developer Ashborne Games and publisher THQ Nordic, has just released a new trailer focusing on the historical inspirations for the story.
Last Train Home doesn’t currently have a release date. It will be available on PC via Steam, where you can wishlist now. You can watch today’s new story trailer on the THQ Nordic YouTube channel:
Two new posts on the game’s Steam page delved into further details about today’s trailer and future reveals. They explain that the trailer uses concept art, which will appear in game, and that it represents the “prevalent mood” of the gameplay.
Also, today’s Steam posts confirm there will be more news about Last Train Home at the THQ Nordic Digital Showcase 2023 on August 11th, 2023, and the next showcase is expected to reveal more gameplay.
Last Train Home features a story inspired by real events, in which the Czechoslovak Legion works to return to their newly formed republic after The Great War. It’s a somewhat overlooked piece of history, despite being innately compelling and inspirational.
This is a brilliant premise for the RTS genre, so it’s smart to focus on the historical context. While there are some nuggets of information in today’s teaser, it’s disappointing that it doesn’t explore too much more than the announcement trailer did last June.
Although, it might get viewers to learn more on their own. Last Train Home has a very rich premise that is certain to distinguish itself by its humanity and authenticity. To bring its time period to life, the creatives even “partnered with the official Czechoslovak Legionary Community”, which is commendable and should have some impressive results.
