Honkai: Star Rail, the highly anticipated HoYoverse RPG and fourth installment in the Honkai series, will officially launch on April 26th, 2023, with pre-installation beginning on April 23rd. Honkai: Star Rail will be available on PC, the Epic Games Store, the App Store and Google Play.
The news coincided with an extensive “Boarding Preparation Special Program”, which lasted around 45 minutes. The program broke down the world of Honkai: Star Rail, a variety of characters, combat mechanics and more. Console players will also have the chance to play Honkai: Star Rail, according to a new trailer from PlayStation. Although a concrete release date has not been confirmed, the trailer reveals that Honkai: Star Rail will be “coming soon” for the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. It seems that the HoYoverse is determined to outdo itself again, because Honkai: Star Rail seems like one of their most ambitious projects yet. There is a remarkable sense of scale to its storytelling, with a universe that feels more expansive than ever, and the same kind of charming characters that make it worth exploring.
The special program really delves into the finer details of each character. They bring a definite sense of meticulously planned history, so players can have a true variety that also fits the expectations of previous titles. It’ll be fascinating to see how fans will be able to experience the trajectory of their motivations.
Also, the special program included a preview of all the key English voice performances, which can often be a concern when something is translated for the West. Even those voices that feel a little uninspired still represent the tone of the game pretty well.
Now that fans have such a clear idea of the mechanics, it would be great to see them in action with some gameplay sometime soon.
