Layers of Fear, a sequel to the psychological horror adventure hit of the same name from Bloober Team and Anshar Studios, has just released a new trailer revealing its Deluxe Edition content. In addition to the base game, the Deluxe Edition will include a digital artbook and soundtrack.
Layers of Fear’s Deluxe Edition will be available at launch on June 15th, 2023. The asking price will be $34.99, while the Standard Edition of the game will cost $29.99.
Players who have previously purchased the original Layers of Fear or Layers of Fear 2 will get a discount. The discount is a limited time deal, only lasting for two weeks following launch. You can watch today’s editions reveal trailer on the Bloober Team YouTube channel:
Today’s trailer is strictly a plain announcement, revealing very little from the actual artbook, and providing no new footage of the game. Layers of Fear only recently revealed its release date a couple of weeks ago, and the announcement was accompanied by a cinematic intro trailer. This close to launch, the only remaining update will probably be a release trailer.
It’s a shame that the Deluxe Edition doesn’t include very much. It would have been nice to pay a little more and get some more compelling content. But the art design and music are real highlights in Layers of Fear, integral to its tension and personality. A physical release with a vinyl soundtrack and a few collectibles would be delightful, perhaps later on.
However, it is fun that today’s teaser reflects on the road leading up to this anticipated sequel, which thematically shares the exact same name as the original. It builds some hype and acknowledges the players who have been invested for so many years.
