The Chasm’s history and origin

To learn more about The Chasm, you may refer to several Artifact descriptions and lore Books available in Genshin Impact. One of the best source of information about The Chasm’s origins is the lore Book “Records of Jueyun.” It is a Book Collection consists of six volumes, each of which may be found in different places across Liyue. The Records of Jueyun discuss about various folk stories, myths, and legends from Liyue. Meanwhile, you can find additional information in the descriptions of Vermillion Hereafter, an Artifact set that can be obtained from The Chasm’s The Lost Valley Domain.

How The Chasm Was Formed Lore Book Artifact Genshin Impact

According to the Records of Jueyun: Hidden Jade lore book, The Chasm was created thousands of years ago when a star fell from the sky into the barren plains west of Liyue. The ongoing battle between gods and rulers over the appointed celestial seats, dubbed the Archon War, led the meteorite to soar back into the skies, leaving behind the deep, vast area known as the Chasm. It was also said that Liyue’s Dunyu Ruins were created by a fragment of the same meteorite that formed The Chasm. In present-day Teyvat, it is apparent that The Chasm has certain unique geological conditions that set it apart from the rest of Liyue’s regions. It is possible that the meteorite caused the soil and vegetation in The Chasm to have a distinctive color and unique fluorescent plants to thrive within.

In the description of the Vermillion Hereafter: Sun Relic Artifact, it is said that the sun was a chariot that raced across the world. However, the solar chariot was destroyed when it fell into a deep chasm at the time of Cataclysm, killing the oldest known beings in Teyvat, called the moon sisters. The mountain people rebuilt the solar chariot, allowing it to beam through the sky once again. While this event seems to be related to The Chasm, it is still unknown whether the falling star and the solar chariot are the same or two separate occurrences.
