    • During the animation, observe your character for a white flash. This serves as a cue for action. However, the flash is very quick, so your input has to be speedy.
  3. Activation:
    • Press 3 again (Divergent Fist) right when the white flash occurs to initiate Black Flash.

  • Visual Cue:
    • The white flash provides an indicator for the timing of the button press. See the image above for the different before and when the white flash occurs.
  • Arm Position:
    • Press the button immediately when your character’s arm is fully cocked back.
  • Timing Practice:
    • Experiment with pressing the button slightly less than half a second after initiating Divergent Fist.

Tips for Using Black Flash

  • Post-M1 Attacks:
    • Utilize Black Flash after landing three M1 attacks for a safer approach.
  • On Getup:
    • Time Black Flash to hit as the opponent gets up for extra damage. It requires accurate timing to avoid hitting too early or too late.
  • Against Blockers:
    • Use Black Flash as a mix-up against opponents who are blocking. However, be cautious of the risk of being counterattacked.
  • Divergent Fist Utility:
    • While Black Flash deals more damage, Divergent Fist has its own advantage: It can hit grounded opponents. With sufficient practice on Black Flash timing, especially on wakeup, Black Flash is generally the better move between the two. But don’t sit on Divergent Fist because you’ve mastered Black Flash.
