To start fishing in PS99, you first need to head to Area 27, also known as Pirate Tavern. In this area, look on the left side, and you’ll see a massive, shining white cave entrance. This is where you can go to fish, but the first thing you need to do is get yourself a fishing rod. Enter, and you’ll find yourself on the beach. Walk towards the Go Fishing sign to acquire your first fishing rod.

Now, let’s talk about the actual fishing process. Walk up to the water edge and left-click to cast your hook into the water. You need to keep an eye on the bobber in the water. When the bobber makes a movement, makes a splash sound, and goes under the water, that’s your cue to click. After clicking, two bars will appear on the right side of your screen, and this is where the real action happens.

Controlling the Bar

You’ll see two large bars. The first bar is what you control, and the second is how close you are to catching the fish or item. Once the second bar reaches the top, you’ve won. However, the first bar is what’s more important.

You’ll see a bobber moving up and down in the first bar, with a green bar behind it. You control this green section with your mouse, and you must keep it aligned with the bobber to win. As the bobber moves up and down, you need to press and hold your mouse or release it.

Here’s how you do it:

  • Hold down your mouse to raise the green bar.
  • Release the mouse to lower the green bar.

The goal is to keep the bar within the green bar of the bobber as much as possible. When this progress reaches 100%, you’ve successfully caught whatever it is you’ve caught!

Managing the Bar and Bobber

If the red part of the bobber goes outside the green zone, your progress will decrease. However, it’s not too critical if it’s only for a short moment. The key is to keep the bobber green as much as possible to catch the fish quickly.

How to Get New Fishing Rods

The whole point of fishing is to fish out Fishing Coins. These coins are what you need to purchase new rods at the Fishing Merchant shop at the beach. It might take a while, but getting 100 coins will unlock the Old Rod, which does net you more coins upon fishing.

The new rods give you a higher chance of getting better items, and you get bigger amounts of coins or diamonds.
